The first time I saw Stuart Scott on ESPN, it was some what an uncomfortable feeling on what this guy was trying to do. Meaning his wall to wall, play by play calls we so out of the ordinary it made you say to yourself,”What is this guy trying to do to Sportscenter?” Over two decades ago first seeing sportscenter for the first time, every sports broadcaster on ESPN were all pretty much identical. Until this flamboyant, hungry young anchor came storming onto the stage with his many anecdotes surrounding stars like Kobe Bryant on losing to a fan in HORSE. Being a avid sports fan, Scott began to grow on you more and more each time watching him. Little did we all know this man would become the fore front in bringing Hip and at the same time Cool language that engaged more to the younger crowd. Now 21 years later the same man is in the battle of his life trying to defeat cancer. The Valvano Speech will always stand alone, but this Stuart Scott speech is not far behind. ESPN Stuart Scott is such a remarkable man. Not for all of his work being a commentator on the best sports show in America. For teaching us what life is all about. To NEVER GIVE UP! Scott being a veteran in performing on television, had no better moment then his speech on the 2014 Espy Awards.
Beginning of the video is a detailed introduction of Stuart Scott daily routine against his fight of cancer. Usually known for his wittiness and outgoing sense of humor we were grateful enough to see a private side of him like never before. Once on stage excepting his Jimmy V Award showed the side of him showing how great of a father, how resilient of a man he is and lastly how strong of a fighter he is.
What an inspirational to us all. He states,”the main reason why I am still standing on this stage is for his two teenage daughters not to have to endure growing up without their father!” He says,”As long as I am still living on this earth, then I am beating cancer.”
A man who said last night that he didn’t know if he was going to be able to be standing on stage today due to the excruciating pain he had to go through the previous night before while receiving his cancer treatment with tubes coming out of all parts of his body. What an incredible human being for all of us to look up to.
